The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto established the "K-Initiative Consultative Council – Korean Language & Korean Studies Subcommittee" in order to bring together the capacities of Korean public institutions and the Korean community in the Toronto area in the field of Korean language and Korean studies. The first subcommittee meeting was held by Deputy Consul General Choi Kicheon on Wednesday, January 28, in North York.

The meeting was attended by Lee Jee Eun, the Director of the Korean Education Centre in Canada, Shin Ok-Yun, President of the Association of Korean Language Schools, Professor Kim Young Gon of Renison University College, and Professor Ko Kyungrok of the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto. Participants discussed cooperative measures to promote and expand Korean language education and Korean studies in Toronto and across Canada.

Building on these discussions, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto will further strengthen the activities of relevant institutions to promote the Korean language, culture, and history among the Korean community and Canadians, and will continue to foster synergies through enhanced communication and collaboration among institutions.
